Ordered the house special lo mein and wonton soup. The lo mein was good, definitely solid standard Chinese. The soup was different. They took egg drop soup and threw two wontons in it.. not something I've ever seen done before. Not quite what I wanted as I didn't want egg drop. However, the egg drop was alright and so was the noodle. All in all not too bad, cheap, and ready in 10 minutes. I'd repeat.

This place always has good eats, the food is freshly made for you and the prices are very reasonable. If you're looking for a quick cheap lunch Nine Dragon has a lunch special for around $6-7 until about 2:30pm.

My 2nd favorite Chinese spot. The food is really inexpensive and taste great. I've been here at least 5 times (maybe more) and I've always been pleased with my food.

First time at this location I got an order of the cream cheese wontons. These were very good I'll definitely be back.

I've definitely had better. The sesame chicken combo brought to mind the scene in American Horror Story in which the main character consumes a raw brain. It had too much unidentifiable gooey sweet sauce, which hindered any appreciation for the actual chicken. Separated from the sauce-soaked nuggets by two lone pieces of overcooked broccoli, the fried rice was mystery-meat city. Pretty unappetizing.

Absolutely the best Chinese take out near LSU. I have been going to Nine Dragon since my freshman year of college and I have yet to be disappointed.

I just can't make myself order Chinese food from anywhere else. I know it's nothing fancy but its Chinese food done exactly how I want it - greasy but not so greasy I'll be sick right after I eat it. The lunch is one of the best (if not the best) deal at midday around LSU - 4 items off of their buffet of about 14 items for just over $5 with tax. Even after lunch, you get literally 2 lbs of food (entree, rice/noodles) for under $10. My go-tos are the Coconut Chicken, the Amazing Chicken, ANY of the soups, and the Beef with Broccoli. Your wallet and your tummy will certainly thank you for choosing this place.

FINALLY found a Chinese place around here that knows a thing or two about General Tsao and his freaking chicken. Got tired of the mediocrity at China Star and I'm glad I tried this place out. MUCH better. 4 stars because this is the first time I've wanted "an order of egg rolls" that only came with one. Usually it's two. Also no sweet and sour or soy sauce packets, and no eating utensils (at least hook a sister up with chopsticks!). Also I reserve my 5 star ratings for food that really knocks it out of the park, which this fell slightly short on. Wish I could give 4 1/2 stars?

A low-priced meal with plenty of flavor. They have a typical Chinese menu with a little something for everyone, including vegetarians. There are several small tables inside, or you can order to go and take the food home. I ordered the General Tso's Tofu, based on another review. While the portion size was very generous, there wasn't much broccoli and the tofu was awfully mushy. The sauce was good though. It was just $7 for dinner, including a tip. Nothing blew me away with my meal, but due to affordable prices and good flavor, they earn a solid 3-star rating.

Nine Dragon serves excellent, fresh Chinese food. They have a good variety of options to choose from. You get your choice of rice or noodles and 3 other choices plus a drink for around $7. My husband and I can eat there for less than $15.

Overall, I will definitely be back, especially after they open the location near my apartment. I went after putting together the Weekly Yelp about Asian lunch specials. After reading the reviews, I decided I had to try it, especially since I have a love affair with hole-in-the-wall Chinese joints. My trip started great when I paid less than $7, and I got 4 dishes and a drink. I got the Lo Mein and the Teriyaki Chicken, and a couple of others. I was pleased with everything. The Lo Mein was fresh with the noodles being soft but not mushy. The chicken comes on skewers and was also very fresh. For the price, you get a good amount of food, and the food is quality and fresh -- definitely worth the trip.

This place is pretty rad. Where else in baton rouge will you find super spicy vegan General Tso's Tofu?! If you think that sounds good... it's only $5.95 and it feeds me for 3 meals. I also love the spicy broccoli and the cream cheese wontons. 1 star off for rude staff, and the last two times I've gotten my tofu it's been extremely oily and congealed like it's been sitting around for a while,

Love this place! Their combos are great and very reasonably priced. You can usually get two meals out of one combo if you're not completely starving. The girls that work the register are shy but super nice if you make the effort to say hello. I suggest the Singapore chicken combo or the hot and sour soup. Best eggrolls in town too! Their lunch specials are super cheap and you get a pile of food as well.

Nine Dragon is the beat Chinese around LSU. The lunch buffet is a steal. You choose 4, of about 12, Chinese take out staples and a drink for around $5.

So delicious and cheap! Try the amazing chicken!

This is more like a cafeteria rather than a restaurant. You go towards the counter, choose four cuisines/items from the ten or twelve choices, and it costs $7 (at least it did for me). I was very happy that they had seafood and vegetarian choices since I do not eat meat (chicken, pork, beef). I chose the lo mein twice out of the four (which was okay, it wasn't all that), cheese wonton, and this one shrimp choice that I do not remember the name of. There were two women helping customers to box their orders, but one of them was very mean looking and rude. Just the way she looks at her customers is very condescending. My friend paid for three orders since three of us came in together. After we told the mean looking and rude woman that she already paid, she just repeated the price $6.75 or something around there, as if she ignored the point we were making, that our meal was already paid for. Later, I was thirsty so I asked them if I can purchase it, and they just pointed to the vending machine and said "Get it over there." When I chose sweet tea, I put on a lid and went to the counter, in which the woman said that it was free. So there's that. I would've appreciated it more if she said it since the beginning. I only looked forward to this "restaurant" since I was really craving for Chinese food. It satisfied the craving but not by much. I would say it isn't authentic Chinese food either.

The food is usually great, although there are off days - hence I gave 4/5 stars. The wonton soup is the best I've ever had and the pork lo mein cannot be beaten anywhere else. I recommend the amazing chicken, Singapore chicken, and garlic chicken. What can I say? Chicken is their specialty to me. I'm pretty sure the popularity of this place has forced China Wok out of business... The only reason I switched allegiances is because Nine Dragon was closer.

Typical Chinese fast food. It's generous portions for low prices make it ideal for the college goers. The taste is pretty standard, as in everything tastes as though it was cooked in the same pan. Not a bad dive for someone just looking for a cheap meal.

Consider my review only for the Amazing Chicken, as I can't bring myself to order anything BUT the Amazing Chicken. I love it. Slightly spicy, not too crunchy, delicious flavor overall.

This is the most amazing chinese restaurant I have ever eaten at. They are always quick, quote 10 minutes for a pick up. The food is priced well and the servings are huge. A great meal for vegetarians... buddhist delight, spicy! Never fails to impress. I just moved to California and can't find any good chinese food. I need a Nine Dragon here!!

Nothing like fast, affordable Chinese food. This is close to LSU, and I always see a ton of undergrads in there. There's a few tables if you want to dine in, but it seems people mainly order for take out. They don't do delivery, unfortunately. Personally, I'm partial to the vegetable egg foo young, which is basically a patty made of fried egg with snap peas, carrots, etc. incorporated throughout. Theirs is pretty good and comes with an order of rice and a brown sauce. You can get an order of three with a small container of rice and an eggroll for under $8, which is perfect for my (extremely small) budget. Can't beat $4/dinner serving! I've also had their egg drop soup, which is also pretty solid (not literally), as well as their fried rice. Overall, it's definitely not the BEST Chinese food I've ever had, but you can't beat the taste at this price point.

Used brisket for "beef bibimbap." When mentioned, all said was, "hehe ok." Today isnt the first time that I had bad food experience here. First and second time their seasoning was way off. Oh yeah, it's not that inexpensive. If you like fried rice and lomein, by all mean go for it. Also, I wouldn't order any other food beside the items on the chinese menu. They tried to cater to other regions in Asia, but they failed at that miserably. Good luck.

Naturally I read reviews based on if I'm interested in the place, and I have to say, I'm a very stingy eater, I have to have something decently or moderately good to even be able to take it down. The place isn't fancy, it's not meant to be, but they excel at the food, the people who cook the food can normally be different people hence why the food experiences are different versus having one core guy cooking it all the time. Other then that, the package that it comes in is amazingly nifty. If I can't finish the food I can take it home and store it away. Totally worth it for the case. (Take out too) One of the few places that I sneak off to when I'm feeling very hungry for some really well made food, I love getting the chef specials due to the portions being so huge that I have extra to save for later. The food always takes a bit of time to prep but I never wait too long and the food is always packaged neatly and nicely. They have been feeding me for years and I'll always continue to go there to satisfy my needs.

I saw some of the reviews of this place and decided to venture away from my usual Chinese take out spot. Bad choice. This place is really busy with lousy food. Before you even think about going here, know that it is not really Chinese food. It is kind of like Chinese food with a lot of salt! We had beef lo mein, sweet and sour pork, and wonton soup. The soup was almost too salty to drink. I had to stop and throw out over half of it. The sweet and sour pork was basically little fried pork nuggets in Polynesian sauce (This is not how it is supposed to be you know. There are supposed to be some pork bones in there and onions, and occasionally bell peppers). The beef lo mein was also on the salty side. There are certainly better options at this price point. I will not be coming here again.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
